CHECK YOUR BALLOT BEFORE VOTING
Remember that no replacement ballot will be issued to you once your ballot is rejected by the machine so follow these steps carefully for your vote to be successfully counted.
1. Make sure that the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) scan the UV mark detector on your ballot before giving it to you to determine that your ballot is authenticate.
2. Check is if the ballot is clean, in perfect condition and not folded. Otherwise, return the ballot to the BEI.
3. Check if all the ovals are not previously marked.
4. Look for your City/Municipality indicated in the upper left hand corner of the ballot. A PCOS machine is programmed to read only the ballots that belong to a specific City/Municipality. If your ballot indicates that it belong another City/Municipality, it will be rejected.
5. Be careful not to put marks on any part of the ballot except in the ovals of your vote.
6. Be careful not to fold the ballot.
7. Shade the oval completely. The PCOS machine will not read a check or a dot. You can download a sample ballot from HERE so you can practice shading.
8. It is ok to under vote. For example, you don’t need to complete the 12 Senators if you only want to vote for one or even none, no problem. But NEVER over vote. No vote will be credited in favor of any candidate for the position/s where you over voted, but the ballot remains valid and the votes for the other positions not affected will be counted.
9. Once you finished marking the ballot, proceed to the PCOS machine to feed the ballot yourself. No one is allowed to feed your ballot but you.
10. After your ballot was fed, don’t go right away. Wait for the PCOS machine to say

“YOUR VOTE HAS BEEN REGISTERED”
YOUR BALLOT HAS BEEN ACCEPTED” or
“YOUR VOTE HAS BEEN REGISTERED”
Ballot will be rejected by the PCOS machine if:
a. the PCOS cannot read a particular ballot when the timing mark or barcode of ballot is damaged, torn or defaced.
b. The ballot is fake or spurious
c. The ballot is invalid. When a user inserts a ballot from the wrong city/municipality for a particular PCOS unit.
d. Previously scanned ballots. - So, no need to worry. Once your ballot is accepted, anyone who will try to add votes to your ballot will never be able to feed the ballot again because the PCOS machine is programmed to scan a valid ballot only once. After that, it will be rejected.
Take your time. Let your votes be counted! ^^
